Last Saturday 1st March, my new book Curious, Connected & Calm: How leaders are better together was released online and in stores all around Australia.
With a new book, comes a new look! I’ve refreshed my website and collaterals with some new images taken by @DEE STUDIO. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Curious, Connected & Calm shows how high performing teams work together better, to achieve consistently outstanding results.
My aim with this book is to demystify team dynamics and show leaders how the distinct roles and behaviours of all the individuals in a team can either help or hinder overall team performance.
YPO REGIONAL FORUM SUMMIT
This week I was delighted to co-facilitate the Regional Forum Moderator Summit for YPO members, at the beautiful Crown Towers Sydney. It was wonderful to collaborate with three very talented facilitators; Maryanne Mooney, Mark Bilton and Chris Simmons. We were our very own little curious, connected and calm team! The event was sponsored by Daniel Sekers and Kuljeeta Singh of the YPO ANZ Region, and it was a great opportunity to share the book with some of Australia’s most influential CEO’s and business leaders.
When Daniel was introducing me to the 55+ CEO’s in attendance, he asked why I was so obsessed with Camels! Good question!
Camels appear both on my book cover and in my logo. When I was choosing a symbol of resilience, adaptability, collaboration, and teamwork – what better animal than a camel?!
Camels are incredibly resilient creatures. The survive the harshest environments, travel across great distances, and maintain their own stores of energy along the way. They work in teams – each leading and following the other. They are wise, remembering their way and passing the knowledge through the generations. Also – a camel saved my husbands life!
When we were young, we went on a seven-day camel trek through the Saharan desert. Half-way through, Clinton was struck on the foot by a scorpion. The camels carried him across steep sand dunes to help in the nearest village where he received life-saving anti-venom. We are forever grateful to those camels who pushed past their own fear of falling on the uneven ground and breaking their own ribs, to save their precious cargo. That’s true leadership.
As one of the many thousands of residents of the Northern Rivers of NSW and Gold Coast that are living through a scary and challenging cyclonic weather event, I’ll am channelling the wisdom of the camel!
